Who? Check out our bios page.

What? A literary salon, a writing circle, a place for support.

Where? We used to skulk around the University of Toronto. Now, we meet virtually.

Why? In solitude we write, and in spare moments (usually once a month) we break from this isolation to meet one another, critique our work, and encourage each other to move forward back to our creative solitude.

How? We encourage you to contact us with any questions or comments.

Welcome to the 11th Floor Writers website. Our group started out in 2007 as a result of a conversation between Ann Y.K. Choi and Maureen Lynch. They met in a creative writing course at the University of Toronto. They were looking for a regular venue to share their work and to encourage both themselves and others in their writing. Shortly after this, the 11th Floor Writers group was formed. Although a number of our members have joined as a result of networking through creative writing courses at the university, it is not exclusive to those who have some formal coursework behind them.

We meet on the second Saturday of each month to review, provide constructive feedback, edit and to encourage one another on the work we share with the group. Each member submits their work, via email, to the rest of the group a week prior to our meeting. We share a collective commitment to ensuring that we continue to be accountable, consistent and focused in our writing goals. Being connected with other writers has helped all of us to achieve and meet our writing goals.

Over the past 14 years, our membership has expanded and contracted as employment, education, family and life have impacted our members. Please take a few moments to browse our site and find out more about our members, read some samples of our writing and discover what we are up to.
